Contract change to your Three service: Update

European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) amendments. Effective from the new implementation date of the EECC.

The EECC, EU Directive 2018/1972, was due to comes into effect on 21 December 2020. The EECC sets out revisions to the existing telecoms regulatory framework. As the EECC is a European Directive, it needs to be transposed (or implemented into) Irish law to become effective here in Ireland. Three has been informed by the Government that the implementation of the EECC will not take place on 21 December 2020. This is because the Irish legislation still needs finalised. The new implementation date is expected to be in the first half of2021. We will communicate the new date as soon as we have more information.

Three previously issued communications in line with regulatory requirements and date provided to us. Due to events outside of our control that date has been moved. As the EECC is a European Directive, it needs to be transposed (or implemented into) Irish law to become effective here in Ireland. No. Contractual changes will take effect from the new implementation date, which will be communicated to you in advance.
Customers leaving Three will be able to apply for a credit refund from after the new implementation date. This can be done by calling 1913. You must request a refund within three months from the date that you port out.
No. Only the customers that have transferred from Three after the implementation date of the EECC into Irish law can make claim back of credit that will be accepted.
Upon request, we will refund the appropriate unused purchased credit, minus an administration charge of €10.45 (inclusive of VAT) that is on your account at the date that you port out.
The EECC is expected to come into effect in the first half of 2021. We await further clarification from the Government on a more precise date. We will communicate the new date as soon as we have more information.
No. There is no right of exit your contract. The EECC is a regulatory change and Three is legally obliged to update your?terms and conditions. All pricing will remain the same.
There are no changes to any of Three’s price plans as a result of the EECC other than the inclusion of the prepaid credit refund administrative charge which is €10.45 (VAT inclusive).
